Who We Are

Our Organizational Structure

The Tamworth Foundation has a board of six directors elected to five-year terms by the vote of our members at the annual meeting. Our members are the many people who support The Tamworth Foundation’s mission through generous donations and by sharing ideas, energy and expertise.

In choosing new board members, we look for geographic representation from the different villages that make up Tamworth, for a good mix of age, gender and types of experience, a mix of perspectives, and most significantly, we look for people who have a broad and inclusive vision of the town and its needs, and who can see the town itself in the larger context of a complex and evolving society.

We are fortunate that Tamworth attracts so many experienced, creative and dedicated people with the qualities we seek in board members. Our board’s diverse backgrounds pave the way for innovative thinking about who we can serve and how.

Board of Directors

Gail Marrone, Board President

Gail Marrone, Board President

Gail Marrone and her husband, Tony, have been Tamworth residents for 36 years, raising three sons here. Gail owned Community Kids Preschool and Child Care for 24 years. Teaching is her passion and she feels blessed to have had so many wonderful families in her life.

Gail has served on The Tamworth Foundation since 2005 and is currently its president. She loves the town of Tamworth and enjoys contributing to her community in many ways.

Peggy Johnson, Trustee

Though she hasn’t completely forgotten her Southern roots, Peggy has lived in Tamworth most of her life, working as a church and community music director, librarian, poet, painter, and mother. She has served on several boards, including Wonalancet Chapel and Yeoman’s Fund for the Arts.

Annie Provenzano, Trustee

Annie is a retired postmaster who works as a DJ at WMWV radio station. She loves Tamworth, especially in the evenings, going to programs at the library, music at the Barnstormers or taking a night swim in the clear water of Chocorua Lake, looking at the mountains and millions of stars in the night.

George Cleveland, Secretary

George’s family has been part of Tamworth since 1903, so he still considers himself somewhat of a newcomer. He served as Town Moderator for 28 years, helping to unravel the mysteries of Town Meeting and guide the election process. He has a passion for local, national and world history that he indulges whenever possible. George’s grandmother was a Trustee of The Tamworth Foundation in the 1930s, footsteps in which he is proud to follow.

Paul Chant, Vice President

Paul has lived in Tamworth for 24 years with his wife, Anne, who is also very active in the Tamworth community. He works at the North Conway law firm, Cooper, Cargill, Chant. Paul is the current President of the NH Bar Association and is on the CASA NH Board of Directors.  Paul loves to ski and kayak, and to relax with a good book by Chocorua Lake.
