Why Give to The Tamworth Foundation?

The only thing you take with you when you’re gone is what you leave behind. ~John Allston

• The Tamworth Foundation is devoted exclusively to improving Tamworth.

• The Board of The Tamworth Foundation is comprised of six individuals who call Tamworth their home. They care deeply about what happens in Tamworth and spend countless hours each year discerning the best ways to enhance life in Tamworth. All Board Members serve without financial compensation.

• The grants distributed each year touch virtually every aspect of life in Tamworth, including specific projects in our Schools, our Libraries, the Arts, our Churches, our Town, Health Services and Recreational Activities for our Youth. Projects supported have included the revitalization of Tamworth Village, Defibrillators for every Town Organization that interfaces with the public, a new Veterans Memorial, College Scholarships, and Heating Oil for Seniors during difficult winters, to name a few.

• The Tamworth Foundation is well managed, with excellent results from our Investment advisor, Cambridge Trust of New Hampshire, and in depth support from our CPA, Dave Caputo.

• The Tamworth Foundation is a Community Foundation, meaning we can:

—Use unrestricted funds to make grants to local non-profits for initiatives that benefit members of our community.

—Act as a fiscal agent for unincorporated groups with projects that will help enhance some aspect of life in Tamworth. Several years ago, The Foundation did this for a group of Tamworth residents selling calendars with photos of Tamworth residents. As a result, over $40,000 was distributed to projects enriching the lives of our young people.

—Administer directed gifts for special purposes, providing assistance in designing gift vehicles suited to the needs of the donor. In 1968,  $200,573.00  was given to The Foundation, to be managed as an endowment for the Tamworth Community Nurse Association. In the 43 years since, TCNA has received $1,022,490.00 in restricted grants from the Foundation while an additional $262, 981.00 has been donated to their endowment.

• Your gift, large of small, will be part of what you leave behind, helping ensure Tamworth remains a special place to live or visit.
